The Queen is a behind the scenes look at the Royal family's response (or lack of) to the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.I found it to be entertaining and even funny at times. Helen Mirren seems to be getting all the praise for her wonderful portrayal of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, although James Cromwell was excellent as the pompous Duke of Edinburgh. In fact the entire film has an excellent cast and some wonderful moving scenes. How can anyone forget the masses of flowers outside Kensington Palace?
Overall the pictures does a good job of showing the reaction of the Royals and the new Prime Minister, Tony Blair in a fair and dignified way. It doesn't really show us anything from inside the Spencer household, which might have been nice.
If this isn't nominated for an Academy Award or two I will be surprised.
