Zombie Bike Lane Critical Mass

According to City staff, the Jarvis St. bike lanes will be gone by early November, but they’ll still be undead for the increasing numbers of us who use them regularly to get to school and work, and just get around. So let's come together one more time: dress up in your scariest Zombie Bike Lane costume and celebrate cycling in Toronto. RSVP for Zombie Bike Lane Critical Mass on the Cycle Toronto facebook page here. Not on facebook? Meet at the corner of Bloor & Spadina at 6:00pm on Fri Oct 26th.

2 minutes is no reason to remove a bike lane. Let’s keep building momentum towards a bicycle-friendly city.

The Future of Jarvis: Public Town Hall

Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam wants to hear from the community about the future of Jarvis Street.  If you are a cyclist, this is your chance to defend our bike lanes!

When the Public Works Committee decided to rip out the bike lanes, Kristyn was not consulted nor was the public. Now she wants to give citizens a chance to be heard.

This is a free public event, open to everyone:

Save Jarvis Community Planning Meeting

In 2010, with no public consultation, City Council decided to remove the bikelanes on Jarvis Street.  This decision will put the safety of hundreds of cyclist (of all ages) at risk, and will cost the city an unnecessary quarter million dollars.

Join us for a Community Planning Meeting, as we build a grassroots campaign to fight for safety and fairness on Jarvis Street.

Stop the Gravy Lane!

Jarvis bike lanes were installed merely a year ago and since then, the bicycle count on Jarvis has tripled!

On 13 July 2011, City Council took a vote without public consultation to remove Jarvis bike lanes, and to revert to the 5th reversible lane structure.

A move will cost taxpayers over $200,000, almost 4 times what it cost to put the bike lanes in!

This makes the 5th lane a Gravy Lane.
