Save Toronto's Waterfront!

Together, we will stop the jets on our waterfront – and last week’s public consultation in Scarborough was proof of that.   Scarborough’s Message to Councillors: Stop the Jets Next: Executive Committee Meeting, March 25 Several hundred residents braved the cold to pack the Laurier Collegiate Institute, with an overwhelming majority rejecting Porter’s jet plans. A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who came out.   While Porter and the TPA performed their usual propaganda roadshow, NoJetsTO gave the straight talk about the dangers to Toronto’s waterfront.   Sadly, Councillors like Paul Ainslie seem oblivious to the damage jets on our waterfront with flight paths affecting Scarborough will have.   But Ainslie, Moeser and Crawford got the clear message that they will vote against the wishes of many of their constituents if they vote for the jets. Let’s hope that these gentlemen will wisen up.   City Councillors and their staff keep tabs on how many calls and emails they receive on an issue. So please keep calling and emailing them (click here to look up councillors’ contact info).   On Tuesday, March 25, the City’s Executive Committee will vote on the jet issue. We need you to show your opposition and ideally make a deputation. Please let us know if you can come by clicking here.   We know that the Toronto Port Authority has spent almost $2 million on advertising since last spring – with Porter certainly spending much more. As a grassroots organization, we are pushing back as much as we can with ads in local newspapers.   Help us put up ads in papers like NOW Magazine and local newspapers in places like Scarborough and North York. Please pitch in today.   Whether it’s through a donation, inviting our friends to sign the online petition or joining us at City Hall on March 25, we can all make a difference in this fight.   Thank you so much for all your help.   Best regards,   Anshul Kapoor NoJetsTO Chair

Help save Toronto's Waterfront

Let's beat the bully. At the last public consultation, Porter shamelessly bussed in its employees to fill the seats. Then the City cancelled the November consultation… But we won't be silenced.

Now is our time to show City staff and the media where Torontonians stand on the dangerous jet plans. 

On Monday, January 27th, the City will hold what will most likely be the last public consultation on the issue. Don't miss this crucial opportunity to speak out.

Like we have done before, we will show that opposition against the jet proposals is strong and spans neighbourhoods across Toronto. 

Porter, the TPA and their allies at City Hall are frantically trying to push the jet plans through. They even settled a ten-year tax dispute with the City with a backroom deal just to have a 'clean vest' before the crucial City Council vote - which is now expected for February.

If you can't make it on the 27th, don't worry. With the Executive Committee and City Council meetings coming up, there will be more opportunities to support our cherished Toronto waterfront.

Whether it's attending the public meetings or pitching in with a donation, your contribution is making a difference.

If we continue to stand together, we will keep our waterfront jet-free.

Get a NO Jets T.O. Lawn Sign!

Getting a helping hand from a friend can make your day. That’s what happened on Thursday when our friends from Transport Action Ontario talked to the media about how an expanded Island Airport will hurt boaters and kayakers.
 
But it’s not just transportation experts that can speak out. Putting up a lawn sign in your front yard or your window is another way to get out the message.
 
NoJetsTO lawn signs are springing up in neighbourhoods across the city. But we need to do more to counter Porter. They are all over Twitter asking folks to put up their lawn signs.
 
Getting a lawn sign is simple. Just fill out this form and we will get in touch for delivery. A recommended donation of $10 per sign goes a long way in covering our costs.
 
But there’s more. We now have T-shirts as well! Get one of these soft cotton tees to spread the word about saving Toronto’s waterfront. The recommended donation is $20.
 
Last but not least, we are looking for volunteers. We need help delivering lawn signs and strengthening our team for outreach events. With more and more petitions coming in, we also need more data entry volunteers – an easy task that you can do from home.
 
Whether it’s taking a lawn sign, donning a T-shirt, joining the growing volunteer team or making a donation, there is a lot we can all do.
