Terrorist Group Marches Downtown, Again

Since we were having such lovely weather this Mothers Day, a friend and I went for a long walk along the waterfront this afternoon. As we headed back to our corner of the city we met up with another group of Tamils representing the terrorist group LTTE.  Actually I am only assuming that they represent the LTTE, but that is based on the fact that they are waving the flags. The LTTE is considered a terrorist group by the Canada and 31 other countries, and I for one think it is about time we stopped letting these people take over our streets.  For more information about the group please see the information from Wikipedia below.

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (Tamil: தமிழீழவிடுதலைப்புலிகள், ISO 15919: tamiḻ iiḻa viṭutalaip pulikaḷ; commonly known as the LTTE or the Tamil Tigers) is a militant organization based in northern Sri Lanka. Founded in 1976, it has since actively waged a secessionist campaign that seeks to create an independent Tamil state in the north and east of Sri Lanka.[2] This campaign has evolved into the Sri Lankan Civil War, one of the longest running armed conflicts in Asia. Since its formation, the LTTE has been headed by its founder, Velupillai Prabhakaran. The Tamil Tigers are currently proscribed as a terrorist organization by 32 countries (see list of countries).

Toronto police to probe whether Tamil protest flags broke law

Toronto police are looking into whether flags carried as part of a protest by members of Toronto's Tamil community this week violated Canada's anti-terrorism laws.

Thousands of Toronto Tamils formed a human chain on Monday around the downtown core to call attention to the civil war in Sri Lanka and call for Canada to pressure the Sri Lankan government to engage Tamil rebels in ceasefire talks.

During the protest, an untold number of men, women and children of all ages waved the red flags of the Tamil Tigers, the militant group that has led the fight for an independent Tamil nation in the north of the South Asian island.

Sri Lankan Attack: God No Where Around.

So, I heard someone on the news today saying that the Pakistani police essentially did nothing during this attack. The police, of course, deny this. However, it reminded me of the Pakistani police officer on the BBC news the other night who said something like this; "the shooting started and I fell to the ground and began to pray".

Lets hope our police don't start using this praying strategy as their first response, because if they do, in my opinion, we are all in big trouble. You will note that six policemen and two civilians died in this attack.

The following is from Wikipedia:
The Sri Lankan cricket team attack occurred on March 3, 2009, as a convoy carrying Sri Lankancricketers in a bus was fired upon by 12 gunmen, near the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan.[1] The cricketers were on their way to play the third day of the second Test against the Pakistani cricket team. Six members of the Sri Lankan cricket team were injured. Six Pakistani policemen and two civilians were killed.
