A message from The Green Party of Canada

This October 24, demand a future for our children.

Join in the global movement to press world leaders for the decisive action climate change demands.

World leaders are gathering in Copenhagen this December to negotiate a global agreement on climate change for the post-Kyoto period. The decisions they make will determine the world our children inherit. Failure to commit to the dramatic changes that science demands could leave a vastly impoverished planet this century, no longer able to sustain us all.

Emerging science indicates that the emissions reduction targets being discussed in Copenhagen are likely too weak and Canada is proposing targets well short of this inadequate range. The Green Party of Canada is joining with Canadians to press our government for the commitments our children need.

Now is the time for Canada to take responsibility.

What can we do?

The Green Party of Canada is calling on all its members to do four things on October 24.

  1. Sign the KYOTOplus petition and spend part of the day collecting more signatures.
  2. Call or write your MP on or before this day and demand that Canada meet and exceed the measures called for by KYOTOplus.
  3. Participate in International Day of Climate Action events in your neighbourhood or help Fill the Hill in Ottawa.
  4. Attend a local screening of The Age of Stupid or arrange a screening of your own.

Copy and print a flyer to spread the word.

Above all, help make October 24 a celebration of life and of this planet we love.
